Learning outcomes
• Understand the key stages of vaccine development and their interdependencies.
• Gain insights into the development and manufacturing processes for vaccines.
• Learn the basic principles of designing and interpreting vaccine testing protocols.
• Explore strategies for overcoming barriers to the transition from a preclinical to a clinical-stage vaccine candidate.
Course content
• Overview of Vaccinology: History and basics of immunology and vaccine types.
• Vaccine delivery systems and mode of action.
• Vaccine Development Pipeline: Preclinical research.
• Transition to vaccine clinical trials including ensuring safety, efficacy, and proper use of correlates of protection.
• Introduction to vaccine-specific manufacturing and up-scaling.
• Introduction to Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) concepts.
Overview
This course offers an overview of translational vaccinology, bridging the gap between research and practical application. It covers key aspects of vaccine development, manufacturing, and testing, equipping participants with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complex vaccine development pipeline, from preclinical studies to clinical trials and production.

We are pleased to offer free registration and travel funding to selected researchers from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). These registration and travel grants for LMIC applicants are generously sponsored by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
