Who should apply
Researchers from the public and private sector seeking funding opportunities or exploring business options. Project managers and other institutional staff involved in proposal development and writing.
Participants are encouraged to submit ideas for grant applications or outlines prior to the course, as these can be incorporated into practical exercises. Active engagement and participation are expected to maximise the learning experience and practical outcomes.
Learning outcomes

• Develop skills to craft budgets and work plans aligned with funding requirements.

• Introduction to Funding Opportunities: Overview of key programmes and their priorities.
• Proposal Development: Writing effective narratives, work plans, and impact sections.
• Consortium Formation and Management: Identifying partners, roles, and collaboration strategies.
• Budget Planning: Crafting realistic and fundable budgets.
• Evaluation Process Insights: Understanding how proposals are reviewed and scored.
• Common Pitfalls: Avoiding errors that lead to rejection.

Overview
This course provides practical tools, strategies and tips to excel in grant writing, with a special focus on grant applications to EU-funded programmes such as Horizon Europe and EDCTP, as well as other international funding schemes like NIH. Learn how to design compelling proposals, and align with funders´ priorities.
Scholarships
We are pleased to offer free registration and travel funding to selected researchers from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). These registration and travel grants for LMIC applicants are generously sponsored by the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI).
